When Bezel or Flush Setting stones with pointed ends, such as marquise, princess, and baguettes, move the metal from the side of the stone toward the point. If you work from the corner to the center of the side, you will be moving metal away from the corner and will not have enough metal to properly cover the point of the stone.

Could you please send me a photo or two of a properly set marquise when set in a head with v prongs on the ends?
Thanks, Fritz

On the Bench Jewelers Network www.BenchJewelersNetwork.com there are articles on setting a marquise by several different master jewelers and all have pictures of how they set them. Also on both the Bench Jewelers Network and Bench Television www.BenchTelevision.com there are videos of setting a marquise which show the finished product.
